Elisabeth Elliot, a linguist, an American missionary to Ecuadorian Indians, a world-renowned author, and an engaging speaker lived a life of obedience to Christ from a young age to her death.  She endured much loss in her lifetime, just like you and me. She was not super human. She just followed a super God.

In my husband's final message, he described three truths that seem too good to be true for a believer. The first truth is that God only gives what is best to His children. Not only that, He also forgives them. And best of all, He will never stop loving them. If this doesn't spur you on to endurance, I don't know what will!
